Maunalua Communities Foundation is a community education organization dedicated to creating opportunities and facilities to enhance livability and foster community pride and enjoyment.

Our goal is to be the catalyst for establishment of a Maunalua
Culture and Arts Hale. Come join us on the journey.

We are extending the fundraising deadline to May 10 for the July 4th fireworks event in hopes of getting that “angel donor.”

“The community is supporting us again with their dollars,” says Dianne Glei, event chair, and “we really don’t want to disappoint them again.” The event was canceled last year due to lack of funds.

Donations may be mailed to Maunalua Communities Foundation,
P.O. Box 256635, Honolulu, HI 96825.

Donations Boxes

Boxes for donations also are located in Walgreens Koko Marina, East Oahu Realty in Hawaii Kai Towne Center and the Hawaii Kai Marina office in Hawaii Kai Shopping Center.

The event will be scaled back this year to reduce some costs. There will be no vendors; people will be able to bring picnics. The event will start at 4 p.m. with entertainment until the fireworks at 8:15 p.m.

The biggest expense is still the fireworks, $40,000 to $50,000 depending on how long the show is. We will have to shorten the time of the fireworks to reduce costs.

Mahalo to these sponsors who have committed money for this year’s celebration: Hawaii Kai Towne Center, Hawaii Kai Marina Community Association, Koko Marina Center, East Oahu Realty, Hawaii American Water.
